Justin Maher currently leads the front-end platform architecture at AppFolio, Inc., where he oversees the front-end technology foundations for a 78-team engineering organization. With 19 years of experience building high-scale distributed systems at industry leaders like Citrix and Intuit, Justin specializes in bridging the gap between deep systems engineering and sophisticated frontend ecosystems.

His technical expertise is rooted in the “paved road” philosophy, spanning UI infrastructure, distributed systems, data and media streaming, and high-leverage CI/CD environments. Justin is a vocal advocate for the philosophy that API design is a user experience design discipline as much as a development discipline, requiring the same intentionality and empathy as consumer-facing products.
